But why choose the name of this island in Finist\u00e8re, located off Porspoder where Avel &amp; Men is based, for this new strap?\u201d <\/p>\n\n<p>De fait, ce \u00ab <em>dicton n\u2019existe pas par hasard<\/em> \u00bb explique Xavier Broise, le fondateur d\u2019Avel &amp; Men. <em>\u00ab Cette zone de navigation est particuli\u00e8rement difficile avec un vent souvent fort et des courants violents qui peuvent lever une mer mauvaise\u00bb<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Et de poursuivre : \u00ab <em>j\u2019avais neuf ans lorsque Peter Blake remportait le troph\u00e9e Jules Vernes et franchissait la ligne d\u2019arriv\u00e9e au large d\u2019Ouessant sous voilure tr\u00e8s r\u00e9duite ; ce marin d\u2019exception confiait \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque que cette fin de course avait \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s difficile, alors qu\u2019il venait de naviguer dans les mers du Sud et avait franchi le cap Horn\u2026<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.montres-de-luxe.com\/photo\/art\/default\/22116871-24945982.jpg\" alt=\"Avel &amp;amp; Men: Ouessant, a strap that is gaining popularity\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>This new strap therefore draws its inspiration &#8211; but also its raw material &#8211; from off Ouessant, as it is made, just like the previous La Rochelle strap, from sail canvas.<\/p>\n\n<p>But this time, it comes from a piece of &#8216;storm&#8217; sail. It is therefore orange in color, like the storm jibs (storm foresails) that sailors must have on board when sailing in strong winds. <\/p>\n\n<p>Agn\u00e8s Broise, co-founder and head of design at Avel &amp; Men, enthuses: &#8220;t<em>his fabric speaks to sailors and the color pairs perfectly with many dive watches or chronographs with orange dials and hands!<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n<p>The brand is currently continuing the development of new models that will be presented throughout the year to complete the collection.
