A strong influence from the sea and the nautical world<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-us\" xml:lang=\"en-us\">Xavier and Agn\u00e8s Broise, co-founders of Avel and Men, are brother and sister. They are also from Brittany and grew up by the ocean. When they created their <b>watch accessories brand<\/b> in 2016, referring to this special link with the sea and sailing was obvious. Everything is therefore thought around the <b>nautical universe<\/b>, starting with the name which means wind (avel) and rock (men) in Breton.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-us\" xml:lang=\"en-us\">This DNA can also be found in the design and the name of the products. As for the design, the <b>materials are also a reminder of the sea and sailing<\/b>. This is especially true of the <b>leather that they buy in Italy<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-us\" xml:lang=\"en-us\">The unique character of the leather used for Avel and Men&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avel-and-men.com\/en\/3-watch-rolls-and-pouches\">watch rolls and pouches<\/a> is due to its <b>natural grain<\/b>. Unlike lower quality leathers whose grain is formed with a plate (mechanically printed by pressing a steel plate on the skin), this leather has a unique grain that gives it all its character.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"en-us\" xml:lang=\"en-us\">Depending on where you cut the skin, the pattern differs, with <b>more or less smooth areas<\/b> that make the <b>authenticity of the product<\/b>. The lining of the watch rolls is made of cotton printed with <b>isobaric lines<\/b> well known to sailors. In weather forecasting, the closer these lines (isobars) are, the more the system is low pressure (basically bad weather). On the contrary, distant lines indicate the presence of a high pressure system and therefore good weather. True to its values, Avel and Men buys its canvas from a sailmaker and has to be very ingenious when assembling its bracelets.
